Club Update - May 2019

May Club Update: Bubble Calendar of Events, Player Experience & Club Acknowledgements

Feels like we are stating the obvious, but April was an incredibly BUSY month - it went in a flash thanks to HKCC tour and all the public holidays ;) and while May night see less disruptions, the intensity is still there as we get to the pointy end of the season, while getting ready for Spring Season 2019!

Do take the time to read through the club updates below and enjoy the week ahead!

From the MCC Netball Committee - Kal, Alex, Geri, Flip, Gemma, Nicky, Sarah

COMMITTEE MEETING

The committee met on 1 May 2019 and took over a panel of windows in the Hans Ebeling Room at the MCG, to workshop options to deliver on our club’s Strategic Plan, in consideration of player experience insights.

The key insights about what creates an enjoyable experience, from the player perspective, are summarised below – and we will use this to continue to improve the player experience at MCC Netball.

As everyone on the committee is a volunteer, we really want to focus on the activities that will have the most benefit for our members. Therefore, we are taking a GROWTH approach to identifying important club activities – brief model outline below – FYI we are currently in the W stage ;)

Goals – What do we want to achieve? Our Strategic Plan

Reality – What is happening now? Player experience insights in April

Options – What could we do? Committee workshop in May identified key outputs

Will – What will we do? Workplan due for delivery end of May

Tactics – How, When will we deliver our actions? (Workplan allocation and confirmation at June committee meeting)

Habits – How will we sustain our success? (For discussion towards end of 2019)

Discussions from the workshop identified key packages of work required to provide an enjoyable player experience: Player Recruitment and Retention, Training and Development Planning, Events, Netball Venue, Celebrating Success, Learning from other clubs & stakeholders including MCC Sporting sections, Communications Plan.

More info to come on these, as well as opportunities to get involved if you are interested.

MCC SPORTING SECTIONS – QUARTERLY MEETING

You may be interested to know that once a quarter, the Chairs of all 13 MCC Sporting Sections, along with MCC Committee Representative and MCC Club Sport, meet at the MCG to share their individual club events and progress, as well as discuss other items to improve the MCC Sporting Sections as a whole.

This forum is an ongoing opportunity to learn from each other and the chairs of the other sections are generous with their knowledge and experiences, as there are certainly some common challenges that all sporting sections face; recruitment, managing player injuries, junior player pathways to name a few.

Pic below is from today’s meeting - FYI Netball Chair did take a selfie but it’s wasn’t great…
