MCC Netball vs Singapore CC
It’s been a big start to the year for MCC Netball, with two international multi-sport tours being held in just over a two month period.
Last week, 15 players returned from Singapore after representing MCC Netball in the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) Multi-sports Tour which ran from Wednesday 6thto Monday 11th April. The tour was a great success for MCC Netball, winning all four games, and being the only MCC sporting section of six to win the trophy match (go MCC Netball)! Despite playing in extremely hot and humid weather, MCC Netball’s skills were too strong for SCC Netball, winning the trophy match 63-14 in addition to three social games 38-17, 49-19 and 31-18.
SCC judged our Most Valuable Players for MCC – for the Trophy match, congratulations goes to Tori Walker and Nicky Lock, and in the Social match, congratulations to Jess Sewell. Off court, our touring team enjoyed the hospitality of the SCC Netball club at a dinner following the trophy match, and a welcome cocktail function and gala dinner hosted by the SCC in the two nights following. Netball players also represented MCC in other section competitions, with three players participating under the hot sun in a social game of tennis, and three others demonstrating some hidden talent in a social darts competition. Our thoughts go out to Becky Alcorn, who due to injury the week prior to the tour, was unable to participate in this tour – we hope you get better soon!
For those who participated in the Hong Kong Multi-sports Tour, tour reports prepared by both the Hong Kong Cricket Club and MCC are now available. Click here to view the MCC newsletter (page 5 for Netball) and here to view HKCC’s ‘Pinkun’ Newsletter (page 28 for Netball). Thank you to Kal Ramani for writing up the MCC Netball report!
Thank you also to everyone who participated and supported the club with both these tours – players, coaches, captains, scorers, photographers, gift makers - we should be ever so proud of our Netball section winning both tours and representing MCC with pride!
Cheers
